It took me over a year of consistent follow-up with HR to get to this point. Initially, I applied for a Zonal Manager position in Goa, but the HR representative, who seemed overly confident, rejected me after the screening round, citing high salary expectations, even though my expectations were in line with the current Zonal Manager's range. This HR person was quite unpleasant. However, I later interviewed for a Zonal Manager role in Bhopal with a different HR representative. She was good, and over four months, there were three rounds of interviews. The feedback and scheduling were slow, but the HR person herself was good. Finally, after the last round, there was no communication, no rejection, and after a few months, I found out someone else had already been hired. The hiring manager, an IIT graduate, seemed more interested in my 10th and 12th marks than my experience, suggesting they had already decided against hiring me.

The interview process started with an online assessment where I had to solve 2 DSA coding questions of moderate difficulty. Then there were two technical rounds. The first technical round focused on problem-solving using DSA, involving 2 coding questions, a discussion about the approach and edge cases, and also a discussion about my resume. The second technical round covered core subjects like OS, DBMS, CN, and OOPs, and also touched upon some new technologies such as cloud and AI/ML. Finally, there was an HR round where I was asked general HR questions related to my background, projects, future goals, and cultural fit.

The Online Assessment was good, conducted through HackerEarth. It tests your ability to solve problems and your aptitude. Then there was a Tech Interview, where the interviewer ditched me for the first day due to some scheduling confusion. The next day, an interview was scheduled with a few hours notice. We started with an intro and then delved into my projects, with deeper elaboration on the core technology (like for me it was a LLM, so he asked me to explain the architecture). I couldn't do it well, as the project was more focused on the implementation part rather than going to the core of the working of the particular model. Then came the coding part, where all questions needed to be executed, with explanation. He also asked me about the questions that were asked in the HackerEarth test, which I explained too. The first coding question was about the Sliding pointer question of max vol of water in a container. I was able to grasp the base logic, but mixed up a little. The interviewer tried helping out, and we discussed on how it can be fixed, but I wasn't able to make the final fix. Then he asked me if I know about DP, I said I wasn't proficient with it, so he asked me to make a LL reversal. I did that in the remaining time with explanation. There were times, were he was trying to be supportive, but he was clearly pissed off being there.

The interview process involved 5 rounds. It started with 3 rounds focused on product management skills, covering Product Strategy, Product Design, RCA, and CV related questions. This was followed by an interaction with the CPO to discuss previous work experience, RCA, and overall fit. The final round was with HR for cultural fit and compensation discussion. HR Priyanshi was very proactive and responsive, making the process smooth and transparent.
