First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Madison Reed.
General Manager
Wow! I was blown away by the thoughtfulness in the interview process. I’ve never seen anything like it in this industry. Every person was so incredible kind and professional. I did a one way audio call, recruiter screening, DM interview, a panel interview, President of stores interview and finally a CEO interview. I found it incredible that you get to meet every tier of the company along the way. It was stressful, but everyone I interviewed really gave me a space that was welcoming and warm so I could perform my best. We did have some schedule mix ups but all were communicated about well. This company is extremely thoughtful about who they hire and I honestly really appreciate that.

Executive Assistant
I applied online and got an email for a phone interview pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the interview was super confusing with these long, wordy questions that just seemed to be packed with corporate jargon. It was hard to even follow along because they'd ask like 2-3 questions all mashed into one sentence. The interviewer also seemed really rushed and went through them way too fast. I was really thrown off and disappointed because it felt like they hadn't actually looked at my resume to ask anything specific. I've done a lot of interviews, and this was a really bad one. Maybe it would be better to send the questions over beforehand, especially for a phone call, so it's easier to keep track and make sure you answer everything properly.
- Tell me about a time you got negative feedback from your boss and how you dealt with it so it didn't impact your confidence at work.
Stylist
I THOUGHT my interview interview at Madison Reed went well. However,I guess I was wrong.I have 20 years experience, management experience, friendly and extremely qualified!!!!!!.I NEED to understand why I wasnt hired for this job???.It isn't possible to get someone MORE qualified than myself.Im not bragging,I just know that I would have been such a great fit.I was made to believe I GOT the job as a shift lead. They asked me when I could start, gave me the location and discussed compensation.I was interviewed by the general manager,He was easy to talk to and very helpful. The HR lady,Victoria whom I spoke on the phone prior to the practical was absolutely lovely.I was extremely excited about workimg at Mafison Reed as Id heard great things!!! My only obvious downfall was the fact that I was nervous and not ptepared for tge hpurs of in depth qurstioninh. However in no way would that have undeimed my capabilities. I was on time, dressed well and nailed the practical,I was totally bewildered when they sent me an email the following day, stating that they would NOT be hiring me,and good luck job hunting.Extremely condescending and quite honestly a really bad call!!! Had more than just ONE person met with and got to know me,they would have had to agree I'm the perfect candidate for this job.I was SOOO excited about working for this company. I reached out to HR,just to find out WHY?? I couldn't imagine what I'd done so wrong,???I got NO response!!I gave up an entire day and travelled a hundred miles to accomodate their hiring process. I didn't think it was too much to ask,to extend me the courtesy as to WHYY,they'd turn down a more than qualified candidate ??? IT MAKES ZERO SENSE.I'm a single Mom,this company is all about empowering women? In literally every way,I was and still am a Perfect candidate for this job. If I had met with more of the staff, there is NO possible way, they wouldnt agree with me on the fact that Im totally qualified and a perfect fit for this job.Ive NEVER been more sure about anything!!! I KNOw,I would have been a fantastic hire for this company, and it really makes me wonder about the hiring processI have lost respect for this company because they let really great candidate slip away!!! They, not only turned me away, but totally shut me down on the advice of one Man,??? This from a company that is supposed to empower women????? Seems contradictive and counter productive and not at all in the companies best interest.I REALLY wanted this job and would have given all my effort to Madison Reed..From what I understand, they are in great need of experienced and qualified stylists. That is coming from MOSTLY customers!!!It just doesn't make ANY sense that I was not hired as ANYTHING? Not a stylist, receptionist,or even the possiblity of a job in the future?Im NOT a criminal,I don't drink nor do drugs, and I have good references.I dress well,Im attractive, approachable, knowledgeable, responsible, outgoing and get along well with EVERYONE?!!.Customers and staff always love me because I'm fair, honest, kind ,professional and I know what I'm doing!!!!,Im an excellent hair stylist, all around, and that is extremely evident !!! What did I do that was Soo wrong??? I can only come up with ,I was nervous. As expected. I simply can't wrap my head around how I couldn't at the VERY LEAST,be given the option to re apply in the future??
- How would you encourage an employee who was feeling down about their job?
Lifecycle Automation Specialist
I spent a lot of time preparing for and going through Madison Reed's interviews, which had several stages. I felt good after the last one. But it was a bummer not hearing back about the final decision. They said I'd get feedback, but I was left hanging, which really bummed me out. This silence has made me think hard about the whole experience and appreciate another offer I got around the same time. Because Madison Reed didn't follow up, I'm thinking the other job might be a better fit. Even though some parts of the interview were good, the lack of communication really changed how I feel about it. Being clear and communicating is super important, and the silence left me feeling kind of meh about my time with Madison Reed.
