& Process

The interview process was really long for the position I applied for, going for over 4 hours total spread across 4 separate interviews. In the end, I got delayed notification and then was told the company eliminated the position. It was totally bizarre and a big waste of my time.

It was a pretty formal interview process, but not too hard. First, I talked to the manager to get a feel for the job. You should also have good proof ready about why you're the best fit for the role. After that, they gave me a tour of the place so I could see where I'd be working.

I had two calls in total. The first was a screener call, and the second was a standard interview. Some red flags popped up during the process. On the screener, I didn't get much chance to ask my own questions because the recruiter spent a lot of time talking about how much they like Lovesac, leaving hardly any time for anything else. It felt like a hard sell about the culture, but I was still interested in the role. They then mentioned that the role had been posted months before they were ready to hire anyone because they wanted to 'see what was out there.' Posting a job months before you're ready to hire without saying when they intend to hire seems disingenuous and cruel, since most people applying for jobs need them, not just for fun. After the initial screener call, I had a call with the hiring manager, which seemed to go well. However, after not hearing back, I followed up asking for an update and was told I'd get one that week. The week went by and still no update. I had to follow up 3 times total before I got an update, which came as a voicemail asking me to call them back. When I called, they said they went with someone else who had more experience. A simple email a few days after the second interview saying they're moving forward with someone else with more experience would have been more efficient and timely. The whole process from when I applied to when an interview was scheduled took 3 months.

I went through 4 interviews and had an in-store experience. They said I was the top candidate and on the final interview they said I'd either get an offer or a 5th interview, but they'd probably skip that. The process was okay but took a long time. They should really be more careful with their words and not give candidates false hope, especially when they might be holding off on other job offers because of the feedback.
