The whole process took about 4 weeks and was a positive experience. It started with a screening call, followed by two Zoom calls. Then there was an in-person super day where I met with several people from the firm. I also had to complete a case study as part of the process.

For my first interview, which was a phone screen, the interviewer asked me to introduce myself and then spent the entire 40 minutes asking me questions about my sophomore summer internship and LLR. He kept wanting more details about the company I worked for. It's a PE firm focused in Africa, so for example he asked me what my favorite country in Africa is to focus on, and which industry, and which company in the industry, etc etc and kept disagreeing with what I said. It was very hostile and rude, which was a shame because I was looking forward to getting to know him but instead he just grilled me.

Behavioral Technical Other

It was a two-stage process. The first interview was just a behavioral one with HR, asking the typical tell me about yourself, resume, why PE, and why Philly type questions. The second round was pretty much a superday, with four interviews back-to-back with people from SA all the way up to Partners. This round mixed behavioral and technical questions. Technical topics included basic accounting, how to value a company, and some brainteaser/estimation problems.

I found out about the internship through a campus listing. The first step was a campus recruitment event where I met a really nice recruiter for a fit interview. They asked me some questions about how to value a company. After that, I had a super day at their Philadelphia office. All three interviews there were pretty easy and focused on fit. I talked to an analyst, an associate, and a partner. They seemed genuinely interested, and I got a call with an offer just a few hours after leaving.
