First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Liberty.
Sales Assistant
The interview process was really straightforward and easy to get through. They asked clear and simple questions about my retail experience, how I handle tough customers, and typical on-the-job situations to see how I communicate and solve problems.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to deal with a difficult customer?
- How do you manage during busy times with a lot of customers?
Product Coordinator
I had an interview with HR, then an in-person interview. It all seemed fine and standard, but they took way too long to get back to me after saying when I'd hear back, and I heard nothing. Ghosting someone after 2 interviews, especially when one involved travel costs, is insulting, disrespectful, and unprofessional. This isn't what I expected from Liberty. It's not that hard to send a rejection email. Treating candidates like they're disposable after they've taken the time to prepare for interviews needs to be called out.
- What makes you want to work for this company?
Sales Associate
So after I applied online with my CV and cover letter, I got a text about a video interview which was new to me. It had three questions with a time limit. A week later, I got a call saying I passed. Then I had to go to Liberty for a group and one on one interview, and bring something that links Christmas and Liberty. We all had five minutes to talk about our items, then they told us about Liberty's history. The Store Manager chatted with us, then we went for individual interviews asking typical questions like 'Why Liberty?', 'What do you like about Christmas?', and 'Give me a time where...'. Finally, we did a really hard crossword puzzle in groups.
- How would you handle a challenge?
- What is your motivation for applying to Liberty?
- What aspects of Christmas do you enjoy?
Loss Compliance Officer
I got a call to set up the first interview, and then got an email to confirm it. The interview felt really comfortable and lasted about an hour. They asked a lot of competency questions, which was great for showing off my skills with examples. A couple of days later, they called and offered me a second interview. This one was also about an hour long, and they asked more competency questions. It was a relaxed atmosphere again, and I felt welcome and at ease.
- Given your previous senior role, can you explain why you are looking at a more junior position now?
