The interview process was really straightforward and easy to get through. They asked clear and simple questions about my retail experience, how I handle tough customers, and typical on-the-job situations to see how I communicate and solve problems.

Behavioral Presentation Group Technical

Applied online via an agency and got an interview invite a week later. The agency was really confident in my customer service and selling skills! On the interview day, I showed up at Liberty London and saw about 15 other candidates, plus 3 managers and 2 current sales assistants. After a quick intro to the store, we split into two groups. One group stayed for smaller group tasks focusing on customer service, while my group went to another room for one-on-one interviews. Later, we all had to give a short presentation about something important to us in front of everyone. I found it unfair to judge our ability to do the job based on this presentation, especially since it's a sales assistant role and not a presentation-focused job. Talking to groups of 20 customers at once isn't part of the job, and even then, it would be easier than presenting to managers and peers because I wouldn't have to memorize a script! As expected, I flubbed the presentation because of nerves, even after rehearsing a lot, and missed key points. This doesn't seem fair for nervous people to showcase their sales potential. While I get we were being observed, the way it was done made me really uncomfortable, not a good look.
