First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LBMC.
Tax Accountant
I applied through LinkedIn and got connected with the recruiter who then set up a meeting with LBMC. This meeting was really great, probably the best one I've had. I talked with the Senior Tax Manager and a Partner. They were funny, relaxed, and very down-to-earth.
- Can you tell me about the accounting software you've used in your past roles?
- What's your experience level with preparing tax forms like 1120S/C, 1065s, and 1040s?
- Do you meet the eligibility requirements to sit for the CPA exam?
Audit Staff
The interview process was really relaxed and not technical at all, more like a chat to see if you'd fit in with the team. Honestly, some of the best interviews I've had! But, they had a lot of rounds and it took forever, and they weren't very clear about where things stood even when I told them I was interviewing elsewhere. It felt like they didn't respect my time, which was a bit of a letdown after such great interviews.
- What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
Audit Staff
First, there was a one-on-one on-campus interview. Then, I was invited to an in-office interview which had four one-on-one interviews. Two managers and two partners conducted these interviews. The night before the in-office interview, I was invited to dinner with two other candidates and a senior and manager from LBMC. This was a good chance to learn about the firm and get a feel for the people outside of the formal interviews. It was also a good chance to stand out and build a relationship with people who would later be asked if I would be a good fit. Finally, a background check was conducted.
- Why public accounting?
- Do you plan on pursuing your CPA?
Talent Acquisition Specialist
I got there and went to the 4th floor and a nice person greeted me right away. I only had to wait about five minutes until I met the hiring manager. She made sure I was okay and made it a really chill environment. We talked for a full hour and asked each other good questions. It was a really good time and I was super impressed. They really knew what they wanted and were excited to tell me why it's a great place to work.
- Can you tell me about your experience and how it aligns with what this role needs?
