First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Laundry Service.
Marketing
So I had four interviews at Cycle, which is a division under laundry service. The recruiter was not communicative or organized at all, which was the first red flag. We had an initial conversation, and then I heard nothing for weeks. After I followed up, they told me the job was filled, but then later that day they said they were wrong. My next few talks with team members were okay, but I got a really fake and judgmental vibe, which I also overlooked. In each interview, they started by saying they wanted it to be a conversational interview, but then they did the opposite. Finally, after all those interviews, they sent me a generic rejection message, which was disappointing after I spent months on it.

Graphic Designer
It started with video calls with the Art Director and some Designers I'd be working with, then a call with the Creative Director. They asked all the standard questions. The vibe was super chill and friendly. They wanted to see my portfolio and hear about my past agency work. They also showed me some of their current projects and work from the account I'd be on, which was really helpful.

- Could you walk me through your portfolio examples?
- Can you describe your experience working with previous agencies?
Project Manager
Had a 30 min chat with a lead for the department. I answered honestly, and gave answers that I have given before about myself to at least get a second interview at other places. Unfortunately got a rejection the next day. I don’t think they liked the fact I said I want to work with clients that allow more creativity/said my current clients were stale. So, wouldn’t recommend saying that. Also do your research on their work, I also don’t think they liked the things I picked from their website. This is all speculation tho, the interviewer did a good job at appearing straight faced and appearing understanding so it’s ultimately hard to tell what they didn’t like— when asked for feedback, I wasn’t given any answers.
- Could you tell me why you applied to Laundry Service?
- What's prompting your desire to leave your current company?
- Describe your project management style.
Social Media Manager
Was contacted by HR about an interview which was a very slow process and responses took on average 2-3 days before eventually arranging a virtual interview. When I did eventually get on a call, the experience was poor to say the least. With one of the senior team members running late to the call, the person who would eventually become my line manager made no effort to engage in conversation, instead muting her mic “whilst she wait for everyone to join” before even introducing herself. When the other person did eventually join, she showed no interest in the interview, blatantly focused on other work and had not one question to ask me. The other person on the interview whilst nice, arrived 5 mins late and ate a bag of crisps whilst asking me questions. I have since had no follow up on whether I was succesful, despite reaching out to the HR a number of times. Overall I wish I hadn’t wasted my valuable time applying for a role at Laundry Service.
