I had a phone interview with a recruiter from Birmingham, which was pretty laid back and went well. Then I went to HQ in Birmingham for an in-person interview with a couple of people. The first interview was with Jason, who seemed uninterested and even yawned. The second interview was with Jack, who was much more pleasant and seemed to listen. My recruiter said I'd hear back by the end of the week, but I never did, and it's been almost a year.

I went through 6 rounds of interviews for a senior Marketing Consultant role at Landing. I felt the interviews were challenging and enthusiastic, and the team took notes on my answers. They asked about foundational solutions for upcoming challenges. Although I suspected I wouldn't get the offer by the third round, I gave it my best. I hope the hired candidate brings diversity. I'm left puzzled by the lack of feedback on my application and what specific qualities or skills were missing. I want to warn others that this experience might be one where they use your knowledge and time without intending to hire you.

So I had 4 rounds of phone/video calls, and then a final in-person round at their HQ in Birmingham, AL. Some interviews got cancelled last minute and rescheduled. It started with an HR screen, then a Zoom with the Hiring Manager. After that, I had to do this big presentation where I planned out all of 2024's campaigns and resources, and then presented it to 3 leaders. That was followed by smaller meetings with those leaders and a chat with the CEO. The CMO seemed really supportive and everyone I met was encouraging, but the CEO seemed hesitant for some reason. I took time off and traveled to their HQ for the final set of interviews which I thought went great. But a few days later, they told me I wasn't getting the job. They didn't give much feedback, just that the CEO thought I didn't have many 'big wins', which is strange given my awards and experience. Honestly, with the team they have, I'm worried implicit gender bias might have been a factor, you know, the whole 'men hired on potential, women on experience' thing. It was a huge personal time and resource drain.

I went through three stages, but it was all done in under two weeks. First, there was a one-way interview where I had to record video answers to some questions. It felt a bit weird at first, but the platform was pretty user-friendly. After that, I had a phone call that was basically an informational check-in. The last interview was a Zoom call with my current manager and another manager, and it was a pretty standard interview. The whole experience was easy and smooth, and I always felt informed about what was happening.
