First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Knoldus Software.
QA Engineer
So, the interview had a coding assessment first, then a coding round, then an HR round. For the coding part, it's good to practice easy LeetCode problems, OOPs concepts, Data Structures and Algorithms. Make sure you're confident. Also, prepare your introduction and to talk about your resume and projects, as they'll definitely ask about those.
- Can you answer some basic Java questions?
- Can you explain OOPs concepts?
Senior Consultant
I applied for a Scala Developer role in June. The process started with R1: a Coding Assessment which had 2 easy-level coding problems. Then came R2: a Technical Interview. The interviewer asked about my projects. Communication was tough, but after he gave me a code, I had to provide the pseudo-code. He wasn't really listening to my explanation of the steps to solve the problem and just wanted the code first. He said I could use a mutable HashMap. In the end, he couldn't even explain his own responsibilities or how he contributes (just said 'it depends'), and I didn't understand where he was coding or in which microservices.
- Did you solve a DSA problem of medium difficulty?
Assistant Vice President - Technology
I applied via LinkedIn. 4th Day : Recruiter round : The recruiter who spent a good 30+ minutes. - I would say it is one of the best recruiter call. He covered almost all aspects (15+ minutes) without me probing for it. It was as if he wanted me to fully know the company even before asking about my details. I really liked that part. - That followed with talking about my role, basic probing questions, my details, and understanding my skillsets and capabilities. 6th Day : Technical Discussion round : Following that i had first technical/leadership round with Senior Director. Whole 45 min was more of a discussion about mutual fitment. The discussion covered my involvement in technical as well as leadership roles in my current org. 13th Day : Level 2 Discussion : Had an hour long discussion with VP Operations. The way the process went so far, i was felling really at home. This round focussed more on leadership skills and cultural fitment. 17th Day : Meet CEO round : I was bit worried about this round but contrary to what i thought, this turned out to be a very good opportunity for me to meet such a great person. The whole 30 min was spent around leadership at knoldus, knoldus' grassroots in employee empowerment, and more importantly what my role was going to be. 18th Day : HR round : Most the of the round was focussed on how Knoldus empowers the employees to be their best. I was really impressed the way the org focussed on making employees successful. 19th Day : Offer roleout Overall : It was really a great experience where right from recruiter round till Offer role-out, everyone made me feel welcome. Each round was followed up with a feedback (to and fro).
- In your leadership capacity, what strategies do you employ to foster a high-performing team?
DevOps Engineer
The interview process took place in a single day. I interviewed at Knoldus, and it was the worst experience of my career. It felt like a waste of time since they seemed to have very specific hiring requirements. DevOps is a vast field, and expecting expertise in everything is unrealistic. The interviewer acted like the owner, behaved rudely, and didn't even listen to my introduction before asking random questions he knew about. This confused and biased person lacked basic ethics and manners for speaking with engineers. The interview couldn't even last 10 minutes, possibly due to his urgent personal work. He seemed like a very toxic individual for such a reputable organization. If they claim to be an equal opportunity employer, they shouldn't have interviewers who judge candidates based on name, appearance, or personal opinions, especially for senior roles. It was completely disappointing. When I tried to provide this feedback to the HR representative, she said she was busy and would call back, but never did.
- Questions were focused only on specific topics the interviewer knew or was interested in.
