Software Engineer
They'll go through your project with you, line by line, to make sure you understand it. Be ready for any Java technical questions you can think of. You'll also need to code something right then and there.
- Can you walk me through your project?
- Let's see you code something live.
- What's your understanding of Java?

So, Knoldus came to our college for campus placements. The first round was Aptitude + Technical, lasting about an hour. The Aptitude section had 30 questions, some tricky and similar to CAT exam questions. The Technical section also had 30 questions covering DBMS, DS, and basic Java output questions. 9 students got selected for the next round, which required visiting the company office. Round 2 was a Technical Screening with two interviewers. They started with basic OOPS concepts like polymorphism and asked for a code example. They then asked if I'd used polymorphism or multithreading in my Android projects. After that, they asked me to implement a Set data structure for user-defined data types, which I couldn't do. They probed further, asking to implement constructor overloading in this Set implementation, specifically passing person names via the constructor. I couldn't answer this, and unfortunately, wasn't selected further.
- Can you implement a Set data structure using constructor overloading?
- Please implement a Doubly linked list.
- Write the code for Merge Sort.
Software Engineer
I got referred for this GCP + Spark role by IDC technologies. I passed all 3 interview rounds, including the one with the CTO. They asked for my documents and salary slip to prepare an offer. A week later, they said the client needed Java experience. I had to take a Java test, but my code was rejected for not running on the specified compiler. It's unprofessional not to state the JD and all requirements upfront, especially after I cleared all rounds and submitted my documents. It's demoralizing. I would never join such an organization that prioritizes a specific solution over evaluating my approach. My advice to management is to not play with candidates' emotions and at least keep them informed about the process. Our time is valuable too, so please respect it.
- Can you explain the architecture of BigQuery?
- What are RDDs and how do they relate to data pipelines?
- How would you handle processing large amounts of image data?
