First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at KBW.
Intern
The interview process included two rounds. The first round was with an Associate, where you were asked general questions and to pitch a stock. The second round was with the Hiring Manager (HOR) and also required a stock pitch.
- Can you pitch a stock for me?
- What is a company you've been following recently?
Investment Banking Analyst
It started with a quick HireVue, then moved to an in-person Superday. The team really wants to know why you're interested in Atlanta and your past finance experience. The Atlanta team I interviewed with was very MD-heavy, with maybe one VP (who might be a director now). Overall, you'll get great exposure to senior bankers.
- Tell me about the most engaging corporate finance class you took in undergrad.
Sales Associate
It was a multi-step interview process where I met with Senior salespeople and then the Head of Sales. I also had conversations with some research team members, because salespeople and researchers often collaborate and share ideas. The interviews were primarily focused on behavioral questions and assessing my fit for the position. A key part of the process involved creating a 3-5 year business plan, outlining my projected activities and revenue generation for the company.
- Behavioral questions
- Tell me about why you are a good fit for this role.
- Develop a 3-5 year business plan detailing your activities and projected revenue.
Analyst
I went through campus recruiting. The first round was totally behavioral, basically going through my resume and having a casual chat with the interviewer. Then I made it to the Superday in Richmond. I spoke with 4 associates and analysts that day. I really liked everyone I met, but I felt I didn't have as much experience as some other candidates and stumbled on a few valuation questions. There were 20 people at the Superday, and only 2 got offers.
- Can you tell me why you're interested in investment banking?
- Describe investment banking in a way a 10-year-old could understand.
- What makes you want to pursue investment banking over consulting?
