First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at JMJ Phillip.
Executive Search Consultant
Had an initial phone interview. The second interview was a zoom call with two team members. One of them was nice, but the other was very rude. They asked hypothetical questions, none of which seemed to be about my skills and experience. It felt very scripted and cookie-cutter. I don't think it would be a good place to work as a recruiter if the leadership team can't hold a conversation with potential colleagues.
- What would you do with 500k for a for-profit company?
- Is creativity or knowledge more important?
Recruiter
So my interview at JMJ Phillip was pretty good overall. The first time I went in, I met with two younger recruiters for about 30-45 minutes. They asked some standard interview questions like what I knew about the company, my hobbies, past jobs, and education. Pretty normal questions if you've interviewed before. They also asked some more personal questions about my last job, why I picked my college major, and what job I'd want if money wasn't an issue. They said they'd get back to me within a week and that the next step would be meeting the company's VP. I did get a second interview with the company and met the Vice President. The questions were a bit different but still similar in nature. They asked why I wanted to be a recruiter, what I thought they do at their company, and if I could mention something in the news that might impact the company. My main advice is to research the company before your interview, just like any other job. Practice some interview questions with friends, and go in with confidence, and you'll do fine.
- What would be your ideal job if finances were not a concern?
- What is your dream job if money were no object?
Content Writer
I had a 30 min phone screening that went well and then a zoom interview the next week which did not go well. I was expecting to discuss the role more and my experiences, but they never asked about that. Instead, I got questions like 'If you had $500k to start a business, what would it be?' and 'What's better: being smart or creative?'. I don't get how this stuff was relevant. I followed up with an email but got no response. They were super unprofessional and rude, and the two people interviewing me were condescending, so I wasn't that shocked.
- What business would you start if you were given $500,000?
- Is it better to be smart or creative?
Associate Recruiter
The interview process included a phone screen with the Executive Recruiter and Talent Acquisition team, followed by a final round interview with the Managing Director and HR Manager. The final interview started easy but then got tough with very specific questions about the company and their clients. It felt like they were just interviewing to keep busy, especially with so many applications but few employees. The Managing Director also seemed like a difficult person to report to.
- Which clients do you think we could best support?
