First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Jenner & Block.
Intern
The interview process started with a recruiter screening call, followed by two formal interviews. The first formal interview had two interviewers, and the last one had a single interviewer. The interview questions were quite standard. The recruiter was very friendly during the whole process.
- What motivates you to apply for this position
Talent Coordinator
The interview had 5 stages, with 4 done over Zoom and the last one meant to be in-person. The questions were pretty basic, and I didn't feel like they really understood my potential value or gave me a chance to show it. They might have decided against me early on. I never heard back about moving forward or even a rejection, and I was completely ghosted by the recruiter. For such a big law firm, this is really disappointing. Even a 'no' with some feedback on why I didn't make it to the final step would have been appreciated, especially given how tough the job market is.
- What are your methods for staying organized?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
Executive Assistant
I was referred by a former employer and was able to skip the initial screenings. Scheduling was tough; they told me to be ready to come in same-day but then I didn't hear back for two weeks. Two weeks of going to bed thinking you have a big interview the next day is awful!! Once I was there, though, everyone was generous with their time. I had two interviews. The first was a panel with a manager and two C-level officers (one called in on speaker phone which made it hard to connect personally). They talked a lot about the position and didn't ask me much about myself. Later I met with the partner who, again, didn't ask me much about my experience or abilities. Ultimately, we both decided we weren't a good fit for each other. They were polite about rejecting me and offered to keep me in mind for other openings.
- How would you feel about being on call after hours and on weekends, given that this job isn't strictly 9-5, M-F?
Billing Coordinator
Overall a good experience. The first call was with HR. The second was with a coworker and manager. The third interview was with a Senior Manager, and the fourth interview was with the CFO. They are trying to get to know you and your daily tasks, like working with teams and handling stress. I felt I did well with everyone except the last senior manager; it seemed we didn't connect, even though the rest of the interviews went well.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What are your day-to-day responsibilities?
- Describe your experience working with a team.
