The recruiter contacted me on WhatsApp to see if I was interested in a mid-level software engineer role with a major client. The process was quite fast and organized, taking about two weeks. In total, there were five conversations: a quick initial call with the recruiter to go over some points, a longer Teams meeting with her to get to know each other better and for her to present the company, then I had a technical interview with a developer, an interview with a manager from Iteris who also asked some technical questions, and finally an interview with the Iteris manager and the client, led by the client, to understand my perspective on certain situations and programming best practices. There was also a logic test and a personality test.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • I was shown three code snippets; one required identifying the error, another identifying the presented design pattern, and the last was multiple-choice asking which code snippet was correct.
  • There were questions about Java and the Spring ecosystem in general, about modifiers, annotations, microservices architecture, authentication and authorization and their structures, about design patterns, JPA, AWS, what asynchronous implementations are, and an example.

Confirmed questions8 questions
  • Could you talk about your projects, including the business aspects and the technologies you used?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of Monoliths versus Microservices?
  • Can you explain event-driven architecture, how it works, and how it was implemented in your previous company?

Technical Group Presentation

The internship selection starts with tests on Kenoby (English, logic, fit...). In my case, 200 people were selected from this phase, 50% women (a really cool initiative). Then comes the hackathon phase, where they provide study material and you have a week to learn and study (the hackathon exercise is very similar to the class material). On the hackathon day, we were divided into groups, and the selection focus is on soft skills (collaboration, interaction, communicating well, helping colleagues, etc.). Overall, it was a very positive experience that added a lot to me.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • How was your behavior during the hackathon?

It was pretty chill, I applied through LinkedIn which directed me to Kenoby, I registered, it took three to five days, they got in touch and scheduled a phone interview for the same day. The first interviewer was super nice and made me feel really comfortable, by the end of the chat we already scheduled the next interview. The second interview was more about me, my experience and my life focus, at the end of the interview we scheduled the next step, which was with the area manager, the technical interview, don't freak out, the manager has the possibility to know where you fit according to what you know, so know how to express your knowledge and everything will be fine.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Tell me about your experience and desire for the role.
  • Skills for dealing with life and questions focused on who you are.
  • Focused on what you already know and if you can fit into a position.
