The recruiter contacted me on WhatsApp to see if I was interested in a mid-level software engineer role with a major client. The process was quite fast and organized, taking about two weeks. In total, there were five conversations: a quick initial call with the recruiter to go over some points, a longer Teams meeting with her to get to know each other better and for her to present the company, then I had a technical interview with a developer, an interview with a manager from Iteris who also asked some technical questions, and finally an interview with the Iteris manager and the client, led by the client, to understand my perspective on certain situations and programming best practices. There was also a logic test and a personality test.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • I was shown three code snippets; one required identifying the error, another identifying the presented design pattern, and the last was multiple-choice asking which code snippet was correct.
  • There were questions about Java and the Spring ecosystem in general, about modifiers, annotations, microservices architecture, authentication and authorization and their structures, about design patterns, JPA, AWS, what asynchronous implementations are, and an example.

Behavioral Technical

Behavioral Technical Other

The process is quite fast. First, there's a phone call with the recruiter, and then a more in-depth interview with HR and a technical one is scheduled. The HR interview is very relaxed, and the technical one isn't anything crazy either. Some more in-depth technical questions are asked, but it's not intimidating at all. An English test was also conducted, as it was for an international project. Three days later, I received a very generic response, unfortunately. They didn't give reasons why they didn't move forward with my application, which really impacted the company's decision not to approve me. I tried to reply to the email asking for more details about the rejection, but it was one of those "no reply" addresses. Since I had the recruiter's email, I contacted her directly, but I didn't even get a response.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Could you elaborate on asynchronous programming?
  • Can you explain the difference between heap and stack?
