My experience with the Ipsen interview process was quite mixed. The interaction with the Talent Acquisition team was excellent. However, the interview with the Brazilian Medical Director was uncomfortable and not aligned with the level of professionalism expected for a senior role. The conversation took place in an inappropriate setting (an airport), during her meal, which negatively impacted the quality of the interaction. Additionally, there were unprofessional behaviors, such as eating in a distracting manner during the interview, sometimes talking with others while I was giving an answer. Another point that stood out was the nature of the questions. They were highly tactical and, at times, seemed more focused on validating pre-existing ideas rather than genuinely assess the candidate experience. Total nightmare and I stopped few times to talk and the hiring manager even noticed as her focus was on her meal or her flight boarding.

I think I was a backup candidate because the recruiter didn't schedule the 3rd interview with the VP until I followed up 3 weeks after the second in-person interview with the hiring manager. The VP was late for the interview and told me she hadn't read my resume. I felt she wasn't interested in me and I probably didn't answer what she was looking for. At the end of the interview, she said it would be the final one, then changed it to say there might be another interview. The whole experience makes me think the top candidate declined the offer, but the next runner-up might have gotten the job. The process took 3 months.

I was contacted by Proclinical Staffing, an external recruiting firm representing Ipsen. The recruiter told me that she would contact me for next steps, which was almost 3 weeks later. She followed up with an email stating that the hiring manager would like to interview me, and that they would contact me. During the next five weeks, I contacted the recruiter on a weekly basis via email or a text message, Keeping them informed of my status, as I was interviewing with other companies with second and third round interviews. I never received a response from the recruiter. I even took an extra step to apply online, and finally received a rejection letter. This is ghosting at its finest. The brand image of Ipsen and Proclinical Staffing has been tarnished. We communicate, even if we are not communicating. If a candidate is not treated with dignity, honor, and respect during the interview/hiring process, they certainly won’t be treated the same when they are an employee. I’m thankful that I found this out during this early seven week process. At this point, I simply cannot recommend this company to anybody.
