Pharmaceutical Sales Specialist
So basically it's all about typical questions in SMART format. You can pretty much memorize the same answer for 118 different scenarios. My colleague and I had the same answers for 'what have you struggled to overcome' but for different hiring managers. Also, I was asked to describe a difficult task that I've mastered which I think is the same question just asked differently and so I answered it the same way just to see if the interviewer was awake, which he wasn't. The sense of urgency to bring sales back to pre-layoff time was humorous given the mass layoffs and hiring less experienced reps.
- Tell me about your biggest weakness.
- Where do you reside in relation to the territory I'm showing you on this map?
- How would you feel about the fact that it will take a year to get sales back up to par?
Consultant
I applied through my school and was called in for on-campus interviews. The first round had questions about my pre-MBA work experiences and behavioral questions, along with a light case and a post-interview assignment to create a few-page deck about it. The second round was in their NYC office with people at different levels. About five days before my interview, HR told me to prepare a 20-minute PowerPoint on a topic of my choice. They postponed the interviews once, so I had more than five days to get the deck ready. I presented the deck to a friendly audience, and they asked me and the group questions, leading to discussions during my presentation. Besides questions on my past experiences and a lot of behavioral/fit questions, I was given at least two or three cases, including a math-heavy one and a marketing-sizing one. I think the cases depend on the practice area you mention in the first round. Two consultants of similar level took me to lunch too.

Consultant
I found the consultant role at Inventiv Health through an online application. About a week later, I had a phone interview scheduled with the HR recruiter. The interview started out okay, but then the recruiter's attitude became really condescending. They got hostile because my experience wasn't exactly what they wanted and asked vague questions about daily metrics I've used before. I didn't understand what they meant, so I asked for an example, but they ignored me and moved on. It seemed like the recruiter didn't really know the role well because they got annoyed when I asked questions about it. I just wanted the call to be over, so when I could, I asked about the next steps. The recruiter then criticized how I explained my previous role as a manager in a Biotech company. It's fine if someone isn't a fit, but the way the recruiter spoke to me was really unacceptable, and I'm sure I'm not the first person they've treated like this. I'm sharing this because I've never been treated so poorly by a recruiter and feel I need to warn others about potential positions at this company. The recruiter was extremely unprofessional, and I strongly advise avoiding this recruiter and the company.
- How did you learn about Inventiv Health?
- Could you provide examples of the daily metrics you've utilized in your previous roles?
Pharmaceutical Sales Representative
I interviewed at a hotel conference room for the Pharmaceutical Sales Representative position. The interviewers were laid back and pleasant, but still very professional. They asked a lot of questions about my past work experience, education, and passions/interests. Overall, it was a positive experience. The first half of the interview lasted about 25-30 minutes and was focused on behavioral-based questions. The last 20 minutes were open for me to ask the interviewers questions.
- Be ready for behavioral questions and know how to use the STAR method for answering.
- There were about 3 or 4 'Tell me a time when', 'Describe a situation in the past when', or 'give me an example of' type questions asked.
- Just be yourself, be positive, and be excited about the role.
