First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Intrepid Investment Bankers.
Investment Banking Analyst
The interview process started with a first round that was purely behavioral questions. After that, the next round was a superday, which also consisted of purely behavioral questions. The only technical questions asked were related to the market and where we see it going. The superday itself was only one round with an MD.
- Can you tell me a little about yourself?
- What makes you a better candidate than others we might consider?
- What is your outlook on the current market conditions and its future trajectory?
Producer
The interview process was pretty short and simple. However, I felt there was some dishonesty involved during the process which I later found out about. It didn't seem like a place where you could grow or learn much. The owner was nice though. The salaries offered are quite low. HR was really slow to respond, taking up to 6 months to give a final decision to myself and other candidates I knew who applied.
- Just the standard questions, nothing new, thoughtful, or insightful.
Investment Banking Intern
They are an investment bank. They want to see you really want the role. Like, you should know what an LBO is and what an investment banker's day looks like. After that, the technical questions are a lot! You should brush up your skills ASAP.
- Can you describe a typical day for an investment banker?
- What is an LBO?
- What does an investment banker's day entail?
Analyst
The interview process started with a phone screen, then moved to a 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 video interview. After that, there was a final round 'super day', which was conducted via video but is usually done in person. The phone screen and the first video interview were with analysts and associates and included standard behavioral and technical questions about valuation. The super day had a typical Saturday schedule with several short interviews with people of different seniority levels, covering both behavioral and technical topics.
- What are the different ways to value a company?
- Can you explain the three main valuation methods?
- Describe how altering a specific income statement item impacts the three main financial statements.
