First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at International Committee of the Red Cross.
Executive Assistant
So the interview process was like this: first, there was a written part where they checked my MS Office skills. I had to draft an official letter in Word, make a PowerPoint presentation, and create an Excel sheet with a budget and a graph. They also tested my French. The second round was oral, and they focused on my interpersonal skills and what I expect from the role.
- As information management is key for this role, could you detail your approach to ensuring data accuracy, maintaining proper filing systems, and upholding confidentiality in your tasks?
Contract Officer
The process was not professional at all! I was selected for the interview, but they didn't provide any information beforehand about the location. I had to ask multiple times for confirmation about the schedule and the location. They confirmed it the day before, very late in the afternoon. I attended the interview the next day. I waited about a week for the result, as promised. I followed up a few times. Eventually, they replied they needed more time to decide. After that, I heard nothing. No rejection letter. Nothing. They didn't value the effort (time and cost) you put into coming to the interview.
- Could you tell me about your experience that is relevant to the job description?
Forensic Specialist
I went through three rounds of interviews for this role, which also involved technical and language assessments. I made it to the final interview, and it seemed to go well. It took them a month and a half to get back to me. I didn't get the job in the end, which I guess is fine considering how many people apply. But what really ticks me off is that I asked HR for feedback twice, and they never got back to me, even though they said they would. After four months of tests and interviews, you'd think they'd at least respond. It's just not cool to ghost candidates like that.
- Can you share three of your strengths and three of your weaknesses?
Proposal and Report Specialist
About a month after applying on their website, I was emailed to complete an assessment first, skipping an initial interview. Despite this red flag, I proceeded with the three-hour assessment. After submitting, the recruiter acknowledged receipt and promised an update within the week. Two weeks passed with no word, so I emailed for an update, receiving no response. Two weeks after that, I inquired again, still with no reply. I found it rude to assign a time-consuming assessment without providing any feedback.
