So, I got a message from a recruiter about some openings they had. First, I had a quick chat with the recruiter for a screener. After that, I had an informational interview with a Principal. The next step was a case interview where I had to prepare a presentation about a case prompt they gave me, and I had to submit the slides beforehand. This was done in person at their office. Then, I met with a Managing Director for the final behavioral interview before they extended an offer.

Behavioral Technical System Design

I got a message from a recruiter on LinkedIn who handled my application the whole way. We had a phone call first, which was like a screen. Then, I had my first official round over Zoom with a senior engineer. We talked about how I approach problems, system design, and they checked my soft skills. It was about an hour. They told me I was moving to the final round, which was supposed to be all on-site and take up most of the day, like 3 hours. This was scheduled for about 5 days later. The Friday before that, with 4 days to go, another recruiter, who was filling in because my main recruiter was off, called to say my interviewers weren't available anymore. It took him maybe a minute to tell me, and I was left wondering why he was laughing so much and what the issue was. It took 3 days to reschedule, and they had to split it into two parts, one virtual on Zoom and the other in-person as planned. This felt like the first sign of disorganization. It was a bit annoying, but I was willing to let it go. But after driving home from vacation and spending 2.5 hours at their office, my main recruiter, who had greeted me and given me a tour, just vanished. She said she'd update me the next day, but nothing happened. Six business days later, I emailed her asking for an update, and still no reply. It's been 17 days now, and I don't expect to hear back, and honestly, I wouldn't work with them even if they did respond. It was super unprofessional, messy, and rude. Job hunting is tough, especially now. I get that it's hard to follow up with everyone early on, but when you've gone on-site for a final round, the recruiter really should give an update, even just an email to close the loop. Looking back, I'm glad I didn't get an offer from them.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process was largely conversational and very engaging. Topics of interviews ranged from situational to conceptual - they wanted to get a sense of what I would bring to the firm. I first met with the recruiting director in person, close to home which was a very nice touch. We talked for 90 minutes. From there, I was set up to meet with the market leaders, followed by the individual Directors. Ultimately, I met with 8-10 team members which gave me a great chance to gauge my interest in both the company and the people. The end to end process took about three months and I accepted an offer.

Behavioral Technical Case Coding

The whole process from when the recruiter first reached out to getting the offer took about 6 weeks. It felt pretty long but wasn't too tough. First, there was a recruiter screening since they found me on LinkedIn, just a quick chat about the job. Then, another recruiter interview to go over my resume. After that, I had a behavioral interview with a Principal. There was an online SQL test. Then, I had a take-home data visualization case study, followed by a functional interview to discuss that case. Finally, I had a behavioral chat with the Data Analytics lead and also a behavioral interview with a Data Engineer, which was probably because I mentioned being interested in that area.
