I got to interview through a program run by alumni that's meant to help recent high school grads get some early work experience before college. The whole idea was to give freshmen a look at a workplace, chances to learn skills, and stuff for their resumes. Doing this, I learned how to talk professionally, what to expect in interviews, and got a lot of good ideas about careers.

You start with a recruiter call, then you have an interview with the hiring manager (and possibly someone else on the team). The last step is a panel interview with your potential coworkers. There's a bit of pre-work for the final step, nothing too hard but you do need to prepare for it. All the interviews are either over the phone or via zoom and follow a set of questions, so it can feel a bit unnatural and not like a real conversation.

A recruiter called me to set up an interview. I got a text from the same person. I called and texted them back that day, but they didn't reply. Since it was a Friday, I waited until Monday to follow up. I followed up on Monday and still heard nothing. A week passed with no contact. Then, I got a rejection email. I have no idea what happened, but it's really unprofessional to reach out to schedule an interview, then ghost a candidate, and then send a rejection email. I would have preferred if they just said it was a mistake on their end instead of ghosting me.

The interview process was pretty straightforward and overall short. I received an email from the principal and scheduled an interview directly with her. I was offered the job, but apparently they have a two day response after you get the position which I was not made aware of. After accepting the offer for days after it was made I was told that it was offered to someone else due to the delay in my response. By the next day I received an email with an offer as they said they would.
