It was a 2 part process. First, a Zoom interview with the hiring team, and then an in person interview with the attorney team. They followed up via email both times. The turn around was pretty quick, and they were super communicative and friendly. A great place to interview and work!

I applied in February and was contacted by an internal recruiter from Richmond, VA. I had an initial screen that went well. Then, I was scheduled to meet with HR shortly after. Following that, I met with members of the HR team, specifically an HR Manager and their HRIS lead. After this, there was a period of silence. Upon following up, I was told the role was on hold due to the firm finalizing their year-end in March. After year-end, I followed up again and was asked for my availability to meet with a Partner who leads their employee relations department. That interview occurred, and then I was scheduled for an in-person interview with the Chair of the NY office. A week passed with no update from the recruiter. Another week passed, still no update. After three weeks, I decided to withdraw my application and emailed the recruiter. She never responded to acknowledge my email or ask why. I am currently employed full-time and investing months of my personal time over several interview rounds has been extremely disappointing. Based on other reviews, this seems to be a common experience.

The HAK team members are very personable and genuine. The interview process is straight forward and they were quick to schedule follow-ups. I get the feeling, however, that they do not understand senior associates at busy firms may have last-minute schedule changes as closing client calls arise. Refusing to take these calls causes suspicion at an associate's current firm.

I had a phone interview with HR, then an in-office interview with that same HR person. After that, it was a group interview with 3 of the team's attorneys. The HR person let me know who I'd be meeting with ahead of time, which was helpful because I got to read up on their bios online and learn more about the practice. The interview felt more like a chat than just Q&A.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • HR asked me to share an experience where I was part of a team I viewed as strong, and then asked about my contribution to that team's success.
  • The attorneys' questions were more focused on understanding the practice style of my current work group.
