First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Home Bargains.
Data Privacy Officer
They read out a load of questions from a sheet and scribbled down my answers. It was professional and they told me about the business but I got the vibe that one of them didn't like me that much. When I entered the main entrance nobody came to greet me. There was no receptionist at the reception. Some random worker walked past and said 'I'll see what's going on'. I just answered all their questions and looked forward to bolting it out of there as soon as I could. Didn't try to shake my hand as I left. Obviously it was a no but when I asked for feedback they wouldn't give me any.

Customer Assistant
The interview was pretty quick and simple, like ten minutes. They asked some easy questions mostly about my past and what I can do, so it felt pretty chill and like a regular chat.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- How does your past work experience fit with this position?
- What are your main skills?
Store Team Member
I applied online and heard back a few days later to schedule an interview for the next week. It was a really nice, casual chat with the interviewer where we talked about my past experience, what I like to do in my free time, and what I knew about the store and retail in general. They also asked me about any upcoming holidays and confirmed my right to work, asking what documents I had. I was offered the job about an hour later. The people there were great, and the environment seemed really positive. The manager was also good at keeping in touch about the onboarding process and submitting documents. I'd definitely suggest it to others!
- What do you know about the company?
- How do your friends and family see you?
- Can you share an example of when you worked as part of a team?

They asked me some questions about the company, the role, and its history. We talked about my experience with customers and how I'd handle stress and a heavy workload. They also stressed the important parts of handling responsibilities.
