First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Holiday Inn Express.
Night Auditor
The hiring manager called me into the back office, reviewed my resume from Indeed, and mentioned he was impressed with my experience in accounts receivable and front desk work at a previous Holiday Inn. We talked for about 20 minutes about my background, and then he made me an offer. He seemed a bit disorganized when preparing my paperwork, especially the W-4, but I figured it was because he was still in training for his role.
- Can you detail your specific duties as a front desk agent at your former Holiday Inn position?
Receptionist
The process was really good. I got a phone call to set up the interview. Once at the hotel, I met with the Guest Experience Supervisor, who is from Argentina, and another person from Catalonia. We had a long, pleasant chat about tourism. Then we discussed the job, I explained my situation in Spain and work conditions. The role was open because someone left the team, but my work visa is only valid for 6 months, which didn't meet the hotel's requirement.
- Could you speak in English about your professional experience?
- In English, how do you see yourself in 5 years?
Guest Service Assistant
I got here and told them my name and was asked to wait. The senior guest service assistant met me, and we chatted in the empty breakfast area. Right from the start, it felt super chill and comfortable, like we'd known each other forever, which I figured was a good sign! The interview went really well, we even laughed together and talked a bit about personal stuff. They seemed really into what I was saying, kept good eye contact and smiled. It was a really good experience overall.
- Can you share an instance where you delivered outstanding customer service?
- What do you consider your biggest accomplishment in life, and can you explain why?
Front Desk Agent
The interview was unpleasant. Initially, I thought I was interviewing for a part-time day reception position. However, about 10 minutes in, they informed me the role was actually for a night auditor (11 pm to 7 am). When I inquired about openings for daytime front desk positions, the interviewer stated that no such roles were available and that the night auditor position was the only one they were hiring for. Furthermore, when I asked questions about the team and the manager's job satisfaction, I was met with a dismissive response: 'Those questions aren't relevant to the position, so I won't be answering.' The manager was rude and inconsiderate of my time.
- Describe how you've managed difficult or unhappy customers.
