The interview process went very smoothly. The manager maintained a professional tone and was punctual. She asked many questions about my previous positions and listened attentively. She was pleasant and respectful. Overall, it was a great experience.

I had one brief recruiter call that was very general. Then I had a 1 on 1 with a Manager which went well enough they offered me a 2nd interview right away. The 2nd interview was to meet potential coworkers and the GM. After that, they just ghosted me. I still don't know why. I followed up a few times and only got a generic response that didn't address the lack of an offer or rejection.

Behavioral Other

The interview process with HEI really left a bad taste in my mouth and ultimately made me decline. First, they use Skill Survey which requires you to put FIVE references and no less. Then references are emailed a survey to fill out. HR kept pressuring for references, but reaching out to 5 references takes a while. I really think this is rude to the candidates and references time. What's worse is they made an offer only after 2 references filled out the survey. If you only wanted 2, please change the required 5. Next they would not allow any flexibility on the start date which I found inconsiderate. I'm not one to leave my current position and not ensure a smooth transition, so being inflexible to moving the start date 3 days really says a lot about the company. HR was also a bit pushy as I would receive an email and/or text every morning during the process. Overall, the lack of respect for my time, requiring five references, and not moving the start date is what made me decline the role.

I first applied on the HEI website, then I called the hotel a few days later to show my interest. The HR Coordinator, who is now my supervisor, scheduled an interview for me. The interview went well. She used the STAR method, which is what Marriott uses for interviews, and asked me questions about my past work, education, and life. She also let me ask questions about Marriott, the specific property, HEI, and things like benefits, scheduling, and flexibility. I interviewed on a Thursday and was told I'd hear back by the next Monday, which I did, and I got the job offer.
