& Process

The entire process moved pretty quickly. It kicked off with a call with an analyst, followed by another call about a week later with an associate. They mostly asked about my resume, and then I got to ask them questions. A couple of weeks after that, I had a Zoom Superday. During the Superday, I talked to someone from Human Capital, did a case study, chatted with a VP, and then met with a portfolio manager from the specific office I was applying to. It was pretty much a conversation, where I got to tell them about my resume and my finance background, and then I asked them questions. I got the offer about one to two weeks later.

The interview process was unorganized and unprofessional. I applied in early September and got an email for a phone screening. I responded that night but had to follow up after 5 days because the dates I gave were approaching. The first round was a phone screen with a junior analyst, mostly behavioral and asking why I wanted to work for the firm. The second round was scheduled for the next day, but the final round interview took almost two weeks to schedule, and I had to contact HR again. I was then invited to their NYC office for the final round. Most interviewers were on time, but one MD was 15 minutes late and only briefly interviewed me before leaving. I completed a written and excel assessment. They said I'd hear back in a week or two, but it took 43 days to get a rejection email, and they didn't respond when I asked for an update. While I understand hiring takes time, being ignored for over a month and a half is rude. I'm disappointed but also feel I wouldn't have liked working for such an inconsiderate firm.

The interview process began with a phone call with two current analysts, focusing on behavioral and resume-based questions. This was followed about two weeks later by another phone interview with two associates, which was primarily behavioral with some general market inquiries. Roughly three weeks after that, I was invited to an "superday" at the San Francisco office. This superday involved approximately eight 2-on-1 interviews with members of the research team, including a brief case study. The majority of these interviews were behavioral, covering "why Hall" questions, and resume discussions, interspersed with some market-related questions. Although I received an offer, the deadline was very tight, only two business days from receipt. I had to decline due to the short notice preventing me from completing other company interviews. However, the firm's employees were very helpful and supportive, offering advice, informational calls, and personal follow-ups.

The interview process was really fun and efficient. First, there was a phone interview that was mostly about introducing the company and its culture. The day after the first round, I got contacted for a second round interview. Both the first and second round phone interviews were very behavioral. After the second round, I was contacted for a final in-person interview. The in-person interviews included several behavioral interviews and an excel test. Even though the process was quite long, it seems like the company is really interested in finding employees who would be a good fit. The people in the office were great and HR made the process super enjoyable!
