Customer Success Manager
HR reached out on LinkedIn and we had a brief call. Then I spoke with the hiring managers who explained their CS approach (they have a dedicated CS team and a strong support team). They inquired about my experience with cross-selling and upselling. It felt like a casual conversation. The next step involved a meeting with the VP, where I introduced myself and we discussed our individual philosophies on Customer Success and NRR.
- Would you rather focus on onboarding new clients or nurturing existing customer relationships?
- Tell me about your experience with cross-selling and upselling.
- How do you personally approach Customer Success and NRR?
Sales Executive
The start of the interview process was good. HR screening was nice and they told me about the role. Scheduling was quick. But then the role they talked about in the interview was not the same as the job posting, which was confusing. The interview itself was short and not very deep. It felt like expectations were different and the call ended fast without telling me what's next. I was interested and followed up, but got no answer or feedback, just a rejection later with no explanation. So, the beginning was good but the end was confusing and unclear. It would be better to have a clear process.
- What drives your interest in this position?
- Could you elaborate on your experience related to this role?
Product Designer
After a good recruiter call, I had an interview with someone from their design team where I had to present a case study. I asked if they wanted to see more research, strategy, or UI design, and they emphasized their need for research and strategy skills. In the end, I was rejected, supposedly due to a lack of UI design, which was confusing given my portfolio. They weren't clear about their priorities, leading to contradictory feedback. It was also frustrating because I was interrupted frequently while presenting, which was impolite and disruptive.
- Can you describe your process for UX research?
- What are your methods for validating a new feature?
Software Engineer
I applied for a Senior Software Engineer role in the Accounting team in Tel Aviv. The interview process involved 4 stages initially, followed by a reference check. After the interviews, HR asked for contact details of two previous employers. I provided details for 3 senior managers/architects/tech leads, but one couldn't provide info due to Microsoft's privacy policies. HR then stated the 4 references were insufficient and required another. Ultimately, no offer was extended. This wasted the time of 4 senior managers, and I can't ask them for another favor. Guesty HR seemed indifferent. The process stages were: a 45-minute recruiter phone call, a 2-hour technical interview with a manager and tech lead (medium/low difficulty, positive), a 1.5-hour technical interview with the R&D director (medium/low difficulty, positive), a 1-hour HR interview with standard questions, and a very negative reference collection experience.
- Could you write a POST handler in Node.js that takes an array of REST endpoints and issues a request to each to test it, where each endpoint is defined by URL, verb, args, params, and query string? Testing means verifying a 2XX response. First implement blocking, then async, add retries, and handle errors.
- For the R&D Director interview, how would you design a microservice-based solution for managing apartments (by owners) and handling bookings (by guests)? Include all necessary components for high-volume traffic, such as databases, queues, lambdas, and caches like Redis. Also, explain how your solution would manage the apartment addition/editing workflow and the apartment booking/reservation workflow.
- For the Batch Editing Service assignment, you need to build a microservice with a single endpoint (POST “/batch”) using Express (NodeJS). This service will manage batch job execution for other services. The endpoint should accept an action and an array of payloads. Design the request and response, supporting path parameters and request bodies. The response should indicate the success or failure status for each invocation, allowing for partial success.
