First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Groupe Dynamite.
Designer
It began with a chat with the recruiter, who was super nice. Then, I had an hour-long talk with the team lead. We went over my experience, some projects I'd done, and they asked how I handle design problems. After that, I got a task to do. It took me about a week to finish the heuristic evaluation, fix the onboarding flow, and explain why I made those changes. I was expecting good feedback, but it took forever and was just a really short, generic reply with nothing helpful. It really bummed me out.
- Could you walk me through your design process?
- Tell me about how you tackle a design challenge.
- What are the stages you go through from the initial research to coming up with ideas?
Corporate Communications Manager
The interview process started really quickly, with three interviews set up right after the initial recruiter call. But after finishing all three, including one visit to the office, the recruiter went silent. They only replied to my follow-up email later to say they'd hired someone else. It felt a bit like a red flag, with the fast scheduling followed by no communication, and didn't seem like a very modern way of doing things.
- Can you walk me through your previous work experience and your background?
- Describe your strategic thinking in the realm of corporate communications.
Project Manager
The interview process is pretty straightforward. First, the hiring manager will call you. They're really nice and will help you prepare for the interview, offering tips and answering any questions you might have. Then, an online meeting will be scheduled with the interviewer where you'll answer some technical questions. They speak English, so French isn't required. After the interview, the hiring manager will get back to you with the results.
- Could you tell me how many years of experience you have in e-commerce?
- Can you give an example of an architecture decision you made in your previous roles?
Management Role
The interview process at GDI was super long. I had to do 10 rounds of interviews and a test, and it took three months. They also did a reference and background check. The worst part was the total silence after my last interview. I tried reaching out to the hiring manager and HR a bunch of times for feedback, but they never responded. It's unprofessional to leave candidates hanging like that, especially after they've put in so much time. Companies should communicate better, even with bad news. This experience makes me question their internal culture. Respect and transparency are key, and GDI didn't deliver.
