First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Golden State Events.
Marketing
The process needs to be more transparent. During the interview I would ask questions regarding pay and day to day operations. I was told that information would be given during the next interview. Then the details of the position should be clarified from the beginning.
- How would you rate your work ethic on a scale of 1 to 10, using each score only once?
- How would you rate your willingness to learn on a scale of 1 to 10, using each score only once?
- How would you rate your leadership skills on a scale of 1 to 10, using each score only once?
Public Relations Specialist
I had two interviews for this role. The first one was a group call with about 10 other candidates, where the interviewer talked about the company's history, pay details, and their own background. The second interview was a one-on-one with a local trainer who covered the day-to-day schedule, what's expected, the company vibe, and answered questions from the first interview. I thought it'd be more of a behind-the-scenes job, but it turns out the company is really focused on outreach for most, if not all, employees. Overall, it was a good interview experience, but the job wasn't really what I was looking for.

Market Team Member
It was a two-round interview process. The first interview was with someone really nice who made me feel relaxed. They gave me an overview of the job and what the team needed. Then they asked me about my work history, my career goals, and other standard interview questions. I got a call later that day for a second interview, and we scheduled it. In the second interview, someone else explained the job details more thoroughly and answered all my questions. It was a pretty standard interview experience that I've had before.
- Can you tell me about your top 3 qualities, and also your biggest weakness?
- What would you say is your biggest weakness, and what are your top 3 qualities?
Event Coordinator
I hopped on the call exactly on time, and it turned out to be a surprise group interview with five other people. We weren't allowed to ask any questions during the interview, and they said questions would only be answered one-on-one later. The Event Coordinator role wasn't what was described, the pay was below minimum wage, and we had to use our own cars for door-to-door donation collection. When I asked a quick question about why the earnings were less than minimum wage and commission-based, the interviewer just kept repeating that questions wouldn't be answered now or later. Instead of a quick clarification, they wasted time saying they wouldn't answer questions. It felt like an MLM scam.
