Territory Account Executive
It's a very IT-focused company, so if you're from Unified Communications, Telecom, or Training & Adoption, it's probably a good fit. They interact with the same decision-makers I currently do. I haven't gotten an offer yet, but I've been invited back for a second interview. During the first interview, we covered my background and the role of a Territory Account Executive (TAE). The interviewer mentioned that the main challenge would be reaching people by phone, but once a meeting is secured, follow-up meetings are usually straightforward. She felt I was a strong candidate and wanted to schedule the second interview quickly, aiming to make an offer before a new training class starts in a few weeks.

Sales
The interview process involves about 4-5 phone interviews, a personality test, and in-person interviews. It starts with an in-house recruiter, then you talk with Managers/Directors (2+). After that, there's a personality test, followed by an in-person interview with Managers/Directors, the VP of Sales, and possibly 1-2 others from different departments. You'll need to do role-plays during the in-person interviews to assess your performance. Overall, it's a positive experience regardless of the outcome. However, be aware of potential issues like inappropriate questions and racial remarks. While they aim to find people who fit their specific sales model, they might cross boundaries. It's important to understand their success comes from hiring specific types of people, but interviewees should be mindful of this and perhaps focus on a more formulaic sales approach.
- What is your self-assessment?
- Can you describe how you rate yourself?
Account Manager
First, there was a phone interview with some basic stuff. Then, an in-person interview. It started with a phone role play where I had to sell a vacation package to someone calling in who was interested in vacation options. They wanted to see if I could ask open-ended questions, figure out what they were looking for, uncover objections, and then recap or move the sale forward. For a role play, it was pretty easy compared to tech companies, and since it was on the phone, I could use notes, which made it much easier. After that, I interviewed with what I think was a panel of 3 people.
- What is your motivation for wanting to be in sales?
Project Manager
I applied on the Global Knowledge careers site and got a call about two days later to set up an in-person interview for the next week. The interview was about an hour. First, I met with the manager. About 30 minutes in, her manager joined. Then, a few project managers came in for questions with about ten minutes left. After the interview, my references were contacted. I got the offer in less than 24 hours.
- Can you describe your experience managing project budgets?
