Digital Product Designer
Submitted my application online and heard back about two weeks later for a virtual interview with the Design Lead. We talked about my past work, how I approach design, and my experience working with different teams. It felt like a good conversation where I could show my portfolio and explain my design thinking.
- Can you tell me about times you've worked with people outside of design?
- What's your process like from start to finish on a design project?
- Are you more of a solo worker or a team player?
General Assistant
The questions are easy, just talk about yourself and if you like fitness. You might have to do a trail shift. Dress smart casual, it's no pressure.
- Can you share an instance where you collaborated with a team, and describe the result?
- What information do you have regarding our company?
- Please introduce yourself.
Lifeguard
Had a 15 minute in person interview and then a competency test. The competency test had a theory and practical part, similar to the NPLQ exam. It involved timed swims, first aid, and water rescue skills, especially for spinal injuries. The practical test was done with groups of 4-5 people.
- What made you choose GLL?
Library Assistant
There were a lot of other people interviewing at the same time, like 20 of us, and they saw about 40 people in total. We had to do this activity where we sorted book covers by alphabet. After that, I was interviewed for less than 10 minutes by two people. They hired about 20 people, so it was a pretty good chance of getting hired if you had experience related to the job, even though I felt I did poorly. It's also a good idea to look up GLL and their libraries, like check out the events they host beforehand.
- Can you tell me about your past work experiences?
- What's your approach to organizing and running an event?
