I had a chat with the general manager and the supervisor for the front of house area, and it was pretty chill. It lasted about 30 to 45 minutes. They asked me to talk about myself and what I've done before, how my background and skills fit with what they're looking for, and what I know about the company.

I applied online. Then I was invited to a recruitment day, which was meant to go from 9am to 5pm. This was at a different leisure centre to the one I originally applied for. There were a bunch of other candidates there too, and some had applied for different jobs or locations, so it wasn't like we were all directly competing against each other. The day was split into two main parts: first, there was a group task designed to see how we think and get a better sense of who we are. After that, we had individual interviews. It's worth noting that this job involves sales, where you're expected to go out on the street and find potential customers, which wasn't really clear from the job description.

The interview started an hour late. They told us it would be an 'X Factor' style interview. We were separated into a yes or no group at the end, and people could watch us get told no. After telling us no, a few of us got a 5-minute chance to interview because the interviewers felt they didn't get to know us. I was told I was 'lazy' with no explanation, and that if I applied for another branch, I'd probably get it, but I'm not good enough for this specific center.
