So I talked to a recruiter first, then had this 4-hour CoderPad style take-home challenge. After that, I interviewed with the hiring manager. Then there was a technical interview and a system design interview. After that, there were more interviews, honestly too many to count. Don't even bother applying here, Gemini pays below market rate and they're gonna make you jump through a lot of hoops. Also, don't be surprised when you get laid off when BTC/crypto starts correcting or enters a bear market.

So the interview process was HR screen, HM screen, 1 live coding, 1 systems design and 1 behavioral. If you need that many loops to decide if someone is right for you, then I don't know what to say. I never liked live coding but I politely declined after I saw live coding and systems design. To me, that is not the best way to showcase my skills. However, the interviewer, said that the HM was "very interested in me". So ... after 1 month... I finally got to talk to the HM... and was very interested in what I had to say. Then... rejection. I get it, no one is perfect. But if you have to take 1 month THEN live coding, systems design and more... your ability to make a decision on a hire is not good. I should have declined again after they asked me to reconsider. Thankfully, bullet was dodged.

It was a pretty typical technical interview process. I got contacted by an engineering manager after going through underdog io. First, I had a chat with the hiring manager. Then, there was a panel with four interviews: system design, coding, cross-functional interaction, and behavioral. Honestly, it felt like two similar behavioral rounds, one coding round, and one system design round. After that, I had a final behavioral and fit interview with my skip level manager. The whole thing took about 30 days from the first contact to when they asked for references/made an offer. My only gripe was that the 'on-site' part was spread out over a whole week just for scheduling, I'd rather knock it all out in a shorter period. The recruiter was awesome and prepped me well for everything.

I am writing to share my feedback regarding my experience during Round 3 of the interview process. I found the request from the interviewers to move my camera up, down, left, and right to be quite inappropriate and unprofessional. As an experienced professional, I take pride in my integrity and would never resort to false means to reach this stage. The first interview lasted about an hour, and the second was approximately 1.5 hours, providing ample opportunity to assess my qualifications and expertise. Instead of interviewing for the positions I applied for, the questions asked were out of context, and the interviewers seemed confused about the answers to their own questions. Overall, management really needs to see the resources they have; my experience clearly shows disrespect, which is sad to see. Also, they set an hour call and exceeded it to 1 hour 40 mins. Major lack of professionalism.
