I had a few phone calls with some of the traders. They were all super nice guys. Everything was decent until my final on-site interview where I met Brian Gelber, the ceo. He asked me a myriad of inappropriate questions, like "So you’re a woman!? I don’t get a lot of women who apply here." He then asks me questions like "do you prefer reading books by men or women more? I can usually tell when a book is written by a woman" then he asked me if my parents are still alive, and if they are, what they do for a living. My dad died when I was young so I got upset. He’s a piece of work, awful person. Very negative look for the company image.

It began with a 30-minute HR phone call where we talked about my interest in the role and the company. After about a month, they sent over a coding assessment to complete in any programming language. Then, I had a quantitative interview via Zoom to discuss the coding assessment, though there was some confusion about whether it would be a video call. The interviewer kept their camera off and said they were on their phone, which was unexpected for what I thought was a third-round interview. HR mentioned this interview would focus on the assessment, but the interviewer never asked about it. Instead, they hit me with about 15 "do you know how to" type questions. I heard back with a rejection email after that.

This hiring process was a bit strange. The interviewer's vibe totally shifted when I started asking about the actual job duties and it became obvious I wasn't the perfect match for them. It seemed like work-life balance would be a major issue. Honestly, this role keeps popping up in my job search, which felt like a bit of a red flag from the start.

First, you'll do an online assessment along with a personality test. If you pass that, you'll schedule an HR call which is about 30 minutes and focused on behavior. Then, there's Trader Round 1 which is also behavior-focused. Trader Round 2 is technical and asks about a past coding project you've worked on. Finally, there's an on-site super day.
