It’s an interview with the regional and a 2nd interview with the VP. It was a smooth process and they just want to know you better. Identify your strengths and what you’ll bring to the company.

The interview process started with a pleasant chat with the first manager. The second interview, however, was really off-putting. The second manager kept bringing up my outfit, which was tan slacks and a button-down shirt, saying it wasn't professional. He mentioned it three times. The last time was when I asked for advice at the end, and he told me to 'Get yourself an outfit.' I thought that was incredibly unprofessional, especially after I'd already acknowledged his point the first time. It felt like he was fixating on my clothes unnecessarily, and honestly, a bit objectifying, since I couldn't exactly change right then. Besides the clothing comments, the interview was just strange. He asked very few actual questions and spent most of the time detailing how tough the job is now with everyone shopping online, and how traditional mall stores aren't doing as well as stores in places like Fred Meyer. While I appreciated the candidness about the job's difficulties, the combination of the clothing critique and this general negativity made it hard to see how he was assessing my fit for the role.

I interviewed on-site with the location manager. It wasn't too tough; if you're eager to work and learn, you'll get the job. They have standard questions, but they're not hard and not strictly followed. There's a drug test and background check, and the regional supervisor has to approve you. I've seen some really qualified and nice people not get hired because the regional supervisor disapproved or the manager and prospect just didn't click. It can be heavily influenced by office politics.

After submitting my application, the hiring manager reached out via email to schedule an interview. I had a round-table telephone interview with the development team. It was a friendly and professional environment, and the call lasted about 30 to 40 minutes.
