First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fred Meyer Jewelers.
Sales Associate
It was a laid-back, in-person chat, and it felt good. They asked some solid questions and went over the job details, including what's expected, the working hours, chances to move up, and learning opportunities.
- What sparked your interest in applying for this role?
Sales Associate
The interview process started with a pleasant chat with the first manager. The second interview, however, was really off-putting. The second manager kept bringing up my outfit, which was tan slacks and a button-down shirt, saying it wasn't professional. He mentioned it three times. The last time was when I asked for advice at the end, and he told me to 'Get yourself an outfit.' I thought that was incredibly unprofessional, especially after I'd already acknowledged his point the first time. It felt like he was fixating on my clothes unnecessarily, and honestly, a bit objectifying, since I couldn't exactly change right then. Besides the clothing comments, the interview was just strange. He asked very few actual questions and spent most of the time detailing how tough the job is now with everyone shopping online, and how traditional mall stores aren't doing as well as stores in places like Fred Meyer. While I appreciated the candidness about the job's difficulties, the combination of the clothing critique and this general negativity made it hard to see how he was assessing my fit for the role.
- What motivated your application for this role?
- Could you share how long you've resided in this vicinity?
- What professional activities have you engaged in during periods between employment?
Sales Associate
The Store Manager greeted me warmly and enthusiastically. I immediately felt a positive vibe, fitting my energetic and competitive personality. She detailed the job duties, expectations, starting pay, opportunities for growth and promotions, and commission structure (though the commission details were often unclear and frequently changed).
- What makes you want to work here and for me specifically?
