Technical Coding

The interview process was pretty good. It kicked off with a 30-minute informal chat with the recruiter, which went well. Then, I had three rounds of interviews. The first was with another data scientist and included some technical questions and coding. The second round, with a lead data scientist, was heavy on technical questions but had no coding. The final round was with the hiring manager and involved both technical and coding questions. Overall, the interview process was great, though I felt it was a bit long.

Technical Coding

I applied in November 2025 and the first thing that happened was a call from HR. They mentioned there would only be one technical round. This technical interview lasted for an hour and included the Engineering Manager and another Engineer. During the interview, I was asked some typical Java questions, and they gave me a zip file with code to review and fix some issues in it, which involved loops and Java regex.

I applied online and the whole thing took 3 weeks. It was a pretty standard process with 3 interview rounds. They asked a mix of general and job-specific questions. I felt the interviewers were a bit out of touch with how genAI actually impacts website performance. Their focus seemed more on team dynamics than the future direction of the website. They came across as dismissive and didn't really address my questions directly. When I asked about career growth, they mentioned potential horizontal moves in about 3-4 years. Ultimately, I didn't get an offer.

The interview process was really positive and felt very human. Everyone involved was friendly, informative, and transparent, making me feel well-supported by both Talent Acquisition and People Experience throughout. Communication was clear, and there were no tedious tasks or overly difficult questions between rounds, which was a relief in this tough job market. The steps were: a casual phone call with Talent Acquisition about the company and culture about 3.5 weeks after applying, followed by a virtual Teams interview with the hiring manager the next week. Then, within the same week, I had a virtual Teams interview with the Director and another with the CMO. An offer came early the following week. The whole process was super efficient with feedback given along the way. The background check took about 3 weeks.
