First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fors Marsh.
Research Associate
I had a few interviews, starting with HR, then a data test, followed by two panel interviews. Everything seemed to go well, but I wasn't chosen for the role. The initial questions were pretty standard, but the final part of one panel involved discussing the company's core values with HR. It's definitely important to know about the company and what they stand for to move forward.

Data Scientist
The interview process at this company involved several stages. It started with recruiter calls and progressed to face-to-face interactions. Even though a recent hire was made in the same unit, I was led to believe the position was still open. I specifically asked about this and was told they were still looking for the 'right person.' After my job talk and one-on-one sessions, there was a team debrief. During this time, the team reviewed my personal artist website extensively, looking at various materials like my art, photography, quotes, an essay, and an artist's statement. The session recordings and IP logs showed they spent a lot of time on these personal items, especially the artist's statement, seemingly scrutinizing them for any issues. This felt unprofessional, especially since my GitHub, which showcased my relevant quantitative skills, was not visited at all during their debrief time. I found this focus on personal, non-job-related material concerning, particularly given the company's stated values of empathy and respect. I would have preferred an open conversation if my website was a concern. Ultimately, I received a rejection with a veiled explanation that the position was on hold, contradicting what I was previously told. This led me to believe I wasn't the 'right fit' due to an excessive focus on irrelevant background details rather than my qualifications. My initial impression of the company's values didn't align with this experience, and I caution others to be aware.

Workplace Climate Researcher
I had a phone screen with the hiring manager for the job. They asked me about my data analysis experience, my interest in the role, and to tell them about myself. I thought the phone interview went really well. The hiring manager said they'd email me their info, but after following up twice, I got ghosted. It was super shocking and discouraging, especially since an executive referred me.
- Could you walk me through your resume and your research background?
- Can you tell me about your experience with data analysis?

Research Intern
The selection process started with a 30-minute phone screen with HR. A few days later, I had a second interview with the researchers I'd be working with, and they also asked for a writing sample. This second interview included both structured behavioral questions and a job talk where I presented some of my past research. About a week after that, they requested my references, and the following day, I was offered the position. They were quite flexible with the offer, giving me time to consider and readily answering my questions. It was a quick and straightforward process, which was greatly appreciated.
