Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fors Marsh.
Research Associate
I had a few interviews, starting with HR, then a data test, followed by two panel interviews. Everything seemed to go well, but I wasn't chosen for the role. The initial questions were pretty standard, but the final part of one panel involved discussing the company's core values with HR. It's definitely important to know about the company and what they stand for to move forward.
- Can you share some examples of your leadership skills?
- How do you collaborate with team members?
- What is your experience with data?

So the first part of the interview was a 30-minute phone screening. The person I talked to was nice. No curveballs or anything. They just told me I'm moving on to the next step, which is a take-home assignment.
- Can you share an example of your quantitative research experience?
- Could you provide an example of your qualitative research experience?
- What's the biggest survey dataset you've encountered in your work?

So for researchers, there are three stages in the interview process. First up is the recruiter phone screen, where they ask basic questions about your background and if you're interested in different teams. This stage is surprisingly tricky and really depends on the recruiter; some are unreliable, some try to steer you to a different role, and some just fast-track you. I actually had to reapply and talk to two different recruiters to get past this. Then, there's a skills test in either SPSS or Stata, which is pretty straightforward and takes about an hour. The last step is an interview with the actual team you'd be joining. This one is mostly behavioral questions and also lasts about an hour. The whole thing took around two months.
- How do you manage your time?
