First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Formulatrix.
Software Engineer
We started with a quick test, like 10 MCQs to finish in about 6-7 minutes, you needed 60% to pass, it was all about problem solving. Next up was an assignment, also focused on problem solving and some basic coding stuff. Then there was an interview, which was again testing problem solving skills.
- What's your approach to building a project from the ground up?
Bootcamp Student
The interview process was really organized and moved quickly. First, there was a short intro call, then we talked a lot about what I've done. The recruiter explained the whole process really clearly, and the interviewers asked good questions that made me think. It felt pretty professional and respectful the whole time, so I felt comfortable sharing my skills and experience.
- What makes you want to join our bootcamp?
- Tell me about how you've used arrays.
- How do you handle input and output?
Field Service Engineer
The interview process was pretty simple. I went in and spoke with the director of support, answered some questions, then I was introduced to some product managers/application scientists to answer more questions. They were really interested in how adaptable and independent I could be, and how good I was at troubleshooting and picking up new things fast.
- Can you share an instance where you had to rapidly learn a new skill or information? What was your learning process and the final result?
- In a team environment, what responsibilities do you typically undertake, and how do you navigate and resolve any conflicts that may occur?
- What are your long-term career goals over the next five years?
Mechanical Design Engineer
The interview process had three stages: an initial interview, a more in-depth phone interview with the team, and then an in-person interview featuring a design discussion and more technical questions. Overall, I was impressed with how much effort clearly went into making the process meaningful and it seemed like they were genuinely interested in hearing about my experience. I also greatly appreciate the fact that no recruiters were involved in any of the process.
- Can you share best practices and practical examples for designing small parts for assembly?
