I had one interview with the department I was applying for. It was okay overall, but one interviewer seemed disengaged, showing up late and appearing uninterested, even checking their phone and staring off. The other interviewer was fine and engaged, but the overall experience was quite odd, making me question my chances.

So, I applied online, and a couple weeks later, Ford Foundation reached out. The process had five steps. First, I talked to a headhunter. Then, I did a written assignment. After that, I interviewed with the program officers, then met with directors from different departments. The last step was a meeting with the program director. It was a pretty detailed and structured process. They asked a mix of technical questions and questions about how I interact with people and fit into the company culture.

My interviews were during the pandemic, so they took place over Google meet. The first interview was an HR screening, the second interview was over 6 months later with four team members. Although I was told I was a finalist, no one reached out to me after the second interview. I emailed HR for an update and did not get a response. Although that was frustrating, I would still be excited to submit an application to another opportunity since I love the work that Ford does.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • If you have experience in accessibility design, this would be a huge plus for the interview. Ford is really committed to improving in this area.
