First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Flashpoint.
Technical Program Manager
First I had a quick chat with the recruiter, then a 90 minute panel interview with three people (I think the hiring manager was one of them), and finally I talked to the CEO, Josh.
- They asked about my customer awareness and if I was a good fit, then probed me on some tools, and finally grilled me on some technical elements of the job. There were also the usual behavioral/conflict resolution questions.
- Did you demonstrate customer awareness?
- Are you a good fit for this role?
Vulnerability Researcher
A recruiter reached out about my profile from 3 months ago, I passed the phone screening and talked with the hiring Director. Then I had a meeting with an employee from another team. I passed a technical test and had another phone call. They mentioned they were pleased with my skills and discussed benefits and my future aspirations as a parent-to-be. I was scheduled for a final interview with a Director and another employee, which included another technical test. I was told I'd speak with a VP in 2-3 days. However, on the scheduled day, the interviewers didn't show up. I waited 40 minutes. The recruiter didn't know what happened until 1.5 weeks later, stating that due to team changes, the position was re-scoped and I was no longer being considered. It was an awful experience, especially the ending.
- Can you explain what a SQL injection is?
- Can you explain what a Buffer overflow is?
Analyst
The interview process for the TTM Analyst role involved several stages: an initial screening, a call with the hiring manager, and an on-site meeting with the team. The process generally felt convenient and the people were professional. However, the job description and interviews misrepresented the actual job duties. I was expecting advanced analytical and research work, but the role primarily involves sending emails, which is tedious and not intellectual. I even reached out to HR about this discrepancy after accepting another offer, but received no response. For the Russian Cybercrime Analyst position, the process was similar, including screening, a manager call, and a very brief 5-minute on-site visit that was tacked onto the TTM interview. I received an offer the same day without meeting the team, and had to push to meet them before accepting. To make things more confusing, after being assured of a job offer, I was informed about an additional interview with a senior manager that they had forgotten to mention. This took a week to schedule, causing uncertainty about my offer while I juggled other opportunities. The final interview was so unmemorable I barely recall it. Overall, the interview process was disorganized, chaotic, and did not accurately reflect the company culture.
- Could you share how you entered the cybersecurity field?
- Would you be comfortable speaking with threat actors in your native language?
Sales Enablement Manager
The interview started with a good initial phone screen with Flashpoint's talent coordinator where we covered the basics of the role and responsibilities. I was then invited to the next stage. It was unexpected when I was asked to speak with someone on the technical team instead of a sales director. I took the call to learn more about the opportunity and realized the role wasn't what was advertised. They needed a sales manager for AEs, not sales enablement, which should've been clarified earlier. I also learned about management issues there, with sales reps being so autonomous they apparently don't need mid-level management.
- What makes you the best candidate for this position?
