Software Engineer
I initially applied online and after about two weeks, I got an email to set up a call with a recruiter. Following that call, I was invited to interview with the hiring manager. This interview was about an hour long, where they gave me an overview of the role and asked about my programming background. After that, I was tasked with building a Python application without using any special software, and I had a week to complete it. A week after I submitted it, I got an email for a technical and a behavioral interview. The technical interview was with a staff and senior engineer, lasting an hour. We discussed the project I submitted and some behavioral topics. I also got 15 minutes to ask them questions. The behavioral interview was with a senior director and an engineering lead, lasting 45 minutes. They asked me about how I handle tough situations and conflicts, and I had 10 minutes for my questions. Overall, the interviews felt like genuine conversations, not like I was being interrogated about my skills or past work.
- If your application required user information, what modifications would you make?
Software Engineer
I had a nice phone chat with the recruiter first. They outlined what the next steps would be and who I'd talk to. But then, later that day, I got a generic rejection email and no personal follow-up.
- Can you share details about your background and previous work experience?
- How do you think you would fit in with our company culture?
Software Engineer
It was pretty chill, maybe too chill. They called me and asked a couple of general questions. Then I had to call them back for a second interview. After that, I called them back again, but didn't hear anything for a week, so I guess that's it?
- Can you describe the complexity of operations?
- How does the internet work?
