& Process

I was contacted by a recruiter and worked with them directly. They presented several jobs that were very similar. The recruiter struggled to explain the main differences between the roles, their hierarchy, what the day-to-day responsibilities would entail, or how these roles would contribute to the company's objectives, even when I asked for clarification on these points. They acknowledged that these were good questions but didn't provide any specific answers. It seemed like they were overwhelmed with work and were looking for people to take on tasks.

So first off I had a phone call with a recruiter where they asked me some really basic questions. Then I had an interview with two people from the design team where we went through my portfolio and they asked me more questions about my work and general design thinking. After that, if they wanted to move forward, a recruiter would have called me to schedule another interview. They would have given me a design task to do and present. I actually dropped out before the second interview because they took forever to get back to me and I'd already accepted another job.

The interview process had 3 rounds: HR, Skills, and the final MD round. The candidate experience with Accenture/Fjord HR was poor, the process was slow, and communication was one-sided, with little to no replies from HR. The HR interview was short (10 minutes instead of 45) and the recruiter seemed uninterested. It took 2 weeks to hear back for Round 2. The Skills round involved presenting past work to a Senior Service Designer, who questioned the candidate's process, decisions, and methods. This interview was average, but the feedback afterward was appreciated. It took another 2 weeks for the final round. The MD interviewer was pleasant and interested in the candidate's work, sharing details about working at Fjord. After the final interview, there was no response for 3 weeks, leading the candidate to assume they were unsuccessful despite sending 3 follow-up emails.

About a month after I applied, an Accenture recruiter gave me a 30-minute initial phone screen. The next month, I had a Skype interview with the Interaction Design Lead. It was pretty chill, under an hour, and I thought it went well. Another month later, they said the role was super competitive and I didn't get it, even though they said my feedback was good. They then offered a follow-up chat, but after I emailed to set it up, I heard nothing back. I emailed again a month later and still no reply. The whole thing felt way too slow and messy. There were tech issues, and I dealt with three different recruiters who didn't seem to talk to each other. I had to chase them for updates, which was frustrating.
