The initial interview was with the recruiter. We discussed my background and its relevance to the position, along with the role's logistics. This was followed by technical questions, where I was presented with scenarios and asked about my approach to problem-solving and issue resolution. Unfortunately, I hadn't worked on the specific topics discussed, which limited my ability to answer fully. Despite this, it was a positive experience, and the recruiter was helpful in clarifying aspects of the role.

I had an initial call with the recruiter, then a second call with the hiring director, and finally an on-site panel interview. After that, I was left in the dark for over two months with no updates on the interview decision. It's disappointing that they don't even have the courtesy to let applicants know the feedback or at least a yes or no decision, which gives them a bad reputation.

The interview process seemed fair initially. Everyone was friendly and seemed genuinely interested in my background and skills. There were several behavioral, background, and some technical questions throughout the 4 interviews. I felt I did pretty well in the technical presentation. A week after that, I was told to expect an offer the next day. However, I was ghosted and had to reach out a week later to mention I'd received another offer. They responded they weren't making any offers, stating I was being considered for a different role, but they haven't replied to any communication since. It felt like they were keeping me as a backup in case their top choice declined. It's unfortunate, but the market is currently in their favor, allowing them to do this.

Firefly's interview process appeared to involve 5 stages. First, a short phone call with a recruiter to gauge interest in the job and discuss what employment at Firefly includes. Second, a longer call with the same recruiter to judge how well you fit the position. Third, a call with an engineer, likely a supervisor for the position, involving higher-level technical questions about rocketry. Fourth, another call to ask more detailed technical questions about rocket propulsion. Fifth, a video panel interview with multiple engineers at the company to judge how well you fit the position.
