First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at FHIA Remodeling.
Sales Associate
The interview was pretty standard. They asked a bunch of questions about my background, sales experience, past jobs, what pay I was looking for, if I was okay with traveling, training, how I handle objections, my education and extracurriculars, when I could start, if I was open to training, and my work schedule.
- Can you share your sales experience that is relevant to this role?
Promotions Coordinator
The job title said Promotions Coordinator, but it turned out to be a sales position. They hire for sales roles and you have to work your way up to other positions. Even though a promotions coordinator shouldn't do sales, they said all these roles are connected. The assistant manager was unprofessional and the work environment seemed that way too, with people cussing and complaining about coworkers. I felt the manager belittling me with their speech. They said you get an offer if you're motivated and outgoing. The job involves going to department stores to sell products, working over 40 hours a week, and mostly standing. Based on others' experiences, it's rare to make sales in these roles, so I didn't want to waste more time and declined the offer. They mentioned you'll hear 'no' from customers almost all the time, but you need to talk to many people to get a 'yes'. They show potential earnings to make it seem easy, but it's not. Don't fall for it.
- What do you know about us?
- Why are you a good fit for this role?
- Where are you currently located?
Marketing
I got to the location and nobody greeted me. Two women were in an office talking about men. I sat in the front chairs and waited. Another guy was there, I assumed he was interviewing too. He just sat on his phone and didn't acknowledge anyone. I waited 10 mins. He asked if I was there for an interview, I said yes. He didn't talk for 5 mins before asking my name. It took another 5 mins before he asked for my resume. The guy was very nonchalant and arrogant. He got up and introduced himself. The rest of the interview was okay. At some point, they put you on the spot to do an impromptu appointment with a customer.
- What do you know about our company?
- How do you feel about interacting with people?
- Do you have dependable transportation?
Appointment Scheduler
I went in to find out more about the job, which involves going out into the field. They said it wasn't sales, but you do have to sell appointments, which might be the toughest part. I felt I was qualified and they said I was smart and would do well. They asked me to come back the next day at a certain time to talk to someone else. I went, and was given two pages of a script and told to call them when I had it memorized. This would have been fine, but the people giving me instructions seemed to be on different pages. The first person who told me to come back was about to explain everything I learned the day before, so I wasn't happy to just get a copy. Later that day, the first interviewer texted asking why I hadn't shown up. I replied I was there at the scheduled time. I didn't reply further because my initial impression was just okay.
- Had you ever done field work previously?
