First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at f.y.e..
Sales Associate
It was pretty straightforward, not difficult at all. Just make sure you present yourself reasonably well and you'll definitely be fine. Wishing the best to the new hires!
- Can you tell me about your previous sales experience?
Store Manager
The interview process was pretty smooth. They asked about my work history and experience, as well as some general questions. They also delved into merchandising experience and knowledge of planograms. Since they focus on popular movies or music, it's important to know how to set up products according to corporate standards.
- Do you have knowledge of planograms and the ins and outs of inventory ordering?
Assistant Manager
I learned about the assistant manager role through a friend and submitted an application in person at the store. I was contacted for an interview very shortly after, maybe a day or two. Given my prior retail experience of a few years, the interview felt pretty typical for this kind of job. The store manager conducted the interview and was really nice, which helped me relax. It felt more like a casual chat to get to know each other rather than a high-pressure situation where I had to impress them.
- Can you share an instance where you felt a sense of accomplishment at the close of a workday?
Sales Associate
I applied online and got a call the next day to schedule an interview. I went in the next day, a little early, and they told me to check out the store while I waited for the manager. The manager asked me typical interview questions about my experience and availability. They also asked about my music and movie knowledge and my favorite genres, which I could answer well since I'm a music major. The interview was pretty short and laid-back, and I got a job offer right away. Be nice on the phone, be nice to the staff when you get there, and be nice to any customers you see. They care more about having someone they'll like working with than just experience.
- What makes you a good candidate for this position?
- Could you share your favorite movie genre and explain your reasoning?
- Could you share your favorite music genres and explain your reasoning?
