Intern
The interview process was not clear. It's basically a third-party outdoor sales org that works with AT&T, reaching out to people AT&T couldn't. It's 100% commission, and bonuses make employees competitors. The office in Plano, TX is small, and employees work outdoors. A degree isn't needed. I got a callback the next day after applying. The initial interview was with the manager, who was friendly but gave general job info. I was told I'd learn more after a job shadow. The job shadow was a full day (12 PM - 8 PM). We started at the office, then carpooled to a neighborhood in a nearby city. I shadowed a salesperson, and we went to their assigned territory. Lunch was fast food I paid for. After lunch, I had to take over the existing contacts. The day ended around 7 PM. Driving back, I was asked about my interest, and I said I wasn't interested. Back at the office, the manager asked for my opinion and if I'd ever be interested, and he said it was too bad I wasn't.

Marketing Trainee
Trinh, the head of HR, gave me a quick initial phone call, she was really nice and easy to chat with. Next, I had to record a video interview where they had pre-recorded videos with questions, and I had to record my video responses. It was a bit weird but okay overall. It was handy since I could do it at home in the evening. The following morning, a hiring manager (who was super nice and friendly, making me feel comfortable) called me to discuss the job and company more, which I liked better than waiting for an in-person interview. This call revealed that the job involves standing at Walmart or Best Buy and trying to get people to sign up for services like AT&T. I find those types of people annoying myself, so I don't want to be one of them! I also found out the workdays are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, which I'm not up for. It sounds like a great company, but it just wasn't the right fit for me!

Account Manager
So after graduating, I'd spent several years in restaurant management, which gave me experience on both sides of the interview table. Evantage's process really stands out for assessing mutual fit. While sitting down with someone gives you some info, you really need to see them in action to gauge their true character. Their interview process provides an in-depth look at how the company operates, especially considering they've expanded over 15 times in 7 years. In the second interview, I shadowed a corporate trainer, visiting business owners they had appointments with and discussing potential relationships with others. I even had the chance to interact with existing customers, helping to build rapport and trust. This hands-on relationship-building aspect reminded me of the restaurant industry and showed how my skills could translate. The 'shadow' style interview was fantastic because it offered a realistic look at a typical day and allowed them to see the skills that could make me successful. For the third interview, I met with the president, we discussed the day's activities, and went into more detail about the compensation structure, which led me to accept the offer on the spot.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to think on your feet?
Account Representative
The interview process was a lot friendlier than I had expected. Everyone there was very nice to me and made me feel at ease. The first and third interviews aren't as tough. They lasted about 20 minutes and mainly asking and answering questions. The second interview is about 2.5 hours long. I spent time with another account representative to see the daily responsibility and got to ask more questions about compensation and benefits. It was very informative. Wish more companies have their interview process this way so you can really see what you're getting yourself into.
