First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Entain.
Senior Associate
I interviewed with Entain last year. The interview location was changed last minute, and I was left waiting in the meeting room for about an hour before the interview started. I was told I would hear back the next day, but it took about two weeks. I was rejected after the final round but was told there was no negative feedback and encouraged to stay in touch if the role was reposted. When the role was posted again, I reapplied but was automatically rejected and ghosted despite being asked to keep in touch and following up. The team seemed fantastic and I enjoyed the interview process, which included case studies and situational questions. However, after the amount of time invested in the process, the lack of communication was disappointing.
- What are some typical role-related case studies?
Staff Software Engineer
I was contacted by a recruiter about a UI Engineer opening to help build a new team, which would involve both coding and management tasks. They outlined a three-part process: first a coding interview, then a systems design interview, and finally a behavioral session. I was advised to prepare for a UI-focused interview, with an emphasis on Angular. However, during the coding interview, the interviewer shifted focus to back-end architecture instead of front-end. They then asked me to share my screen, but I declined as I hadn't been forewarned, and the interviewer ended the session. We rescheduled, and I was assured of more specific instructions, but they canceled the interview altogether before the new date arrived.
- Regarding system design, how would you architect the backend for a system that needs to connect with several payment processors, given their diverse APIs?
Principal Engineer
The process began with a HackerRank Test, which was tough, testing coding and problem-solving under pressure. Then there was a Hiring Manager Screening, mostly about my resume and experience, diving deep into technical challenges from recent projects to check my problem-solving and ownership. After that, a Design & Coding Round, a bit challenging but structured, where I had to design a distributed queue, testing system design and coding. Overall, the process was clear, structured, and interactive. The interviewers were focused and motivated, making it challenging and engaging.
- Can you design a distributed queue system that handles multiple producers and consumers?
Risk Associate
I had a disappointing interview experience for a Risk Associate role. Even though they said it would be in English, it was in their native language. I asked for feedback on my test, and they said 'This interview is the feedback,' which was dismissive. They seemed more interested in criticizing my career choices than having a real conversation. I have over 10 years of experience and have been a hiring manager, so the lack of professionalism was surprising. The pay offered was 2,200 BGN (around 1,090+ EUR) for a job needing two languages and weekend shifts, which is way too low. They said the salary was non-negotiable and no bonuses. They seem to be prioritizing saving money over hiring good people. Similar jobs pay much more. The job has been open for 4+ months. The whole process was unprofessional and not what I expected. I wouldn't recommend this company. If you value your experience, this could be frustrating.
- What is your reasoning for changing 3 jobs in the last 3 years?
